A soft place to rest in a messy healthcare system

A soft place to rest

Sage Diabetes was born because it was the space I wish I’d had 10 years ago after my adult Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis. A soft place to rest in a messy healthcare system.

The healthcare system can feel extremely lonely and disconnected. If you feel that way too — it’s not you.

I want to transform the way we think about our diabetes, our experience of living with diabetes, and how to get through the tough spots.

This blog is an opening and a conversation starter. So, I invite you to send me a note and let me know what resonates for you, what you disagree with, or what you’re hungry for more of!

You are not broken.
Healthcare is broken.

This blog is a safe space to discuss the emotional and mental aspects of living with diabetes. It explores how to navigate the ups and downs of managing the condition while prioritizing self-care and overall well-being. It delves into the challenges of living with diabetes, including coping with a healthcare system that may not always provide adequate support. This blog aims to offer support and advice to those living with diabetes, helping them to be kinder to themselves and find stability amidst the challenges of managing this chronic condition.

This is the beginning of a conversation about how to live with diabetes. Not how in a practical way, with blood sugar tests and carbohydrate counting. But how to live with ease, and move through the emotional ups and downs.

How do we really care for our minds, hearts, and bodies after a diabetes diagnosis so it doesn’t run us into the ground? How do we find stability in an off-balance healthcare system? How do we be really kind friends to ourselves during all the difficult moments?
